Overview ● Styles Benefits FAQs

People often come to a Yoga class for the first time with little or no idea as to what will happen during the class. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that it isn't all that scary...

Focus

We spend the first few minutes focussing on becoming calm and thinking about the intention for our practice. This is the perfect opportunity to leave any worries "outside the door" for the duration of the class and focus on yourself instead.

Posture Work

This is the main part of the practice and is made up of the postures (or "asanas") that Yoga is famous for. There is a range of seated, standing and inverted postures which are suitable for both beginners and more experienced Yoga students. The postures will help to relax you, ease out tension and help to tone your body.

Breathing

Whilst running around all day, we start to neglect our breathing, making it shallow and forgetting to use the full capacity of our lungs. The breathing ("Pranayama") work in a class will calm and relax you - and the good news is that you can use the same techniques at home, whenever you feel the need to de-stress.

Relaxation

After the physical work is finished, the body and mind need a period in which to rest and absorb the benefits of the practice.
