FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Things that people email me about on a regular basis, in relation to the UKHD...
| How do I get listed? |
| Go to
this page and fill out all the
details that apply to you - don't forget to press SEND! |
| What if there isn't an instructor listed near to me? |
| Either get in touch with the closest
possible instructor and see if they can help (either by running a new
class closer to you, or by recommending another instructor, who may not
be listed on the UKHD). If they are unable to help, try learning yourself at home (go to the Hoop Suppliers page and find one that sells DVDs), join a local group and perhaps consider training as an instructor yourself! |

|
| How long will it take to get my listing online? |
| Hopefully, within 4 weeks. However, as a
result of UKHD being run on a volunteer basis, this may occasionally be
longer. If your listing doesn't appear by the next update, please email
Laura,
using the title "UKHD" for your email. |
| What do the Instructor qualifications mean? |
| Many instructors have taken certificates
in hooping and hoopdance, perhaps in addition to fitness and dance
qualifications. Some are highly trained circus professionals who have
studied for many years. You may see the following mentioned under
"Qualifications" in the listings - UK Hoop Instructor qualification - Currently (as of 2011), the only hoop teacher training course recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). HoopGirl - There are currently 3 levels of training and each course is a 3-day certificate in teaching hoopdance, including an assessed teaching practical. Bodyhoops - There are currently 3 levels of training and each course is a 3-day certificate in teaching hoopdance, including an assessed teaching practical. HoopGuy - Each course is for those already qualified as fitness or dance instructors and forms a 2-day certificate in teaching beginners' hoopdance. ETM - Short for "Exercise To Music". This means your instructor has passed anatomy & physiology, healthy & safety and practical teaching exams and is qualified as a fitness instructor. Level 2 is standard, Level 3 is advanced. REPS - Register of Exercise Professionals. Professional body for British fitness instructors. |
