About Laura

Laura is based on the border of Leicestershire and Warwickshire, working as a hoop teacher and fitness instructor for adults and children. Since discovering the joy of hooping for herself, Laura has studied for certificates in hoopdance with the USA's Christabel "HoopGirl" Zamor (2009) and the UK's John "HoopGuy" Parnell (2008), in addition to her prior training in several fitness and holistic fields. As well as teaching, Laura also performs as a hoopdancer and fire artist, both solo and as part of the Leicester group Combust. Laura's background as a holistic therapist and yoga teacher has directly influenced her hooping and teaching style, with emphasis on the student's safety, enjoyment and individual experience.

In addition to several fitness qualifications, Laura has a Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology, and a BSc Honours degree in Music. She is first aid trained and has taken additional Child Protection Training with the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB).

Laura plays an active part in the UK hoop community and founded the non-profit UK Hoop Database (UKHD) in 2009, as a central listing for professional hula hoop performers and teachers. She is also a member of the Hoopie Award-nominated group Leamington Spa Hoop Club (Warwickshire).
